The Newtown Square Fire Company responded to 10 calls along West Chester Pike in the St Albans section of town for the smell of smoke in the building. As these calls came in a relatively short period of time, and involved commercial businesses, several mutual aid fire companies assisted, including Broomall, Berwyn, Media, Rosetree Radnor and MICU 104B.

The source of the issue turned out to be two PECO transformers in the area. While the power was not totally out, it affected the industrial equipment at these businesses, resulting in the smell of smoke.

Members of the different fire companies stood by as PECO corrected the problem and cover companies from Goshen and Paoli fire companies stood by at our station to cover calls in town.
