With 60 years of volunteer service, Danny Cosfol was a Life Member of the Newtown Square Fire Company. He was also prominent in local business and he cared very much about the community. As a co-founder of D&K Appliances in Newtown Square, Danny demonstrated his strong work ethic by being a very dependable first responder. When the siren sounded Danny responded. Involvement in the fire company was a family affair, his beloved wife Dora was involved supporting the volunteers.
Danny started as a firefighter in 1960. Throughout his long career he was involved in fighting many fires, engaged in rescues and assisted the emergency medical service, year-round, day or night. He was very willing to teach other volunteers the craft of firefighting and teamwork.
Danny was a valued member of fire company and served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Danny displayed the skills and integrity necessary to be a team-oriented firefighter. He earned the admiration of those who went with him into danger. Most importantly he was recognized as a trusted colleague. On the social side, back-in-the-day Danny was a regular at the Monday night “Poker Club” held at the fire station.
Over the last twenty years of his career Danny transitioned to the Fire Police. Often Fire Police responsibilities involve long hours, enduring harsh weather and hazardous conditions. Fire Police Captain Carl Ewing could always count on Danny when duty called.
From a most grateful community and fire company, we say “Thank You” Danny for your many years of dedicated service and friendship. You will be greatly missed.
