| Before leaving town, Tyler Curtis the Championship Operations Manager for the PGA of America, made a final stop at Newtown Square fire station to deliver the title for a new Can-Am ATV, which was purchased by the PGA for the fire company during the tournament. Now officially designated as "UTV 41," the all-terrain vehicle features a specialized skid unit that replicates the functionality of a full-sized fire truck on a smaller scale. Its key features for fire suppression include: a built-in fire pump, hose, and onboard water and foam tanks. For Off-Road Rescue and EMS the unit is fully capable of retrieving and transporting patients from rugged, off-road locations. A custom transport trailer is currently in the works and will carry extra equipment and resources. Much like a golfer selecting the perfect club from their bag, the crews will be able to customize UTV 41's toolkit on the fly, depending on the specific task at hand. Before wrapping up the visit, Tyler Curtis and Alex Beauchemi, SPEC Coordinator for PGA of America, toured the station to look over the rest of the fleet, our fire pole, and even getting a hands-on demonstration of the "Jaws of Life." Newtown Square provided a crew for the new ATV as well as an engine on stand-by during the week long PGA event at Aronimink Golf Club. |
