This morning at 5:40 am, Newtown Square Fire Company and Edgmont Fire Company were dispatched for a building fire in the 3400 blk of Providence Rd. Initial reports to the 911 center reported a mattress on fire. Chief 41 from Newtown Square was first on scene and found a working fire in a 1st floor bedroom, confirmed there was an active fire in the home, which brought in numerous mutual aid companies.

Crews contained the fire to the room of origin, and rescued / evacuated the members of the family who resided in the residence. House was turned over to the Park Ranger.
