Environmental Rescue in Greene Countrie

At 1023 hours, the Company 41, Company 53 (Broomall), and MICU 15 (Radnor) were alerted for a reported Environmental Rescue in the 3200 block of Sawmill Road in the Greene Countrie section of Newtown Township. Numerous calls to 911 reported that a tree branch had fallen on a subject, pinning him to the ground.

Engine 41 (Assitant Chief Young) arrived and confirmed entrapment involving a large tree trunk and established the "Sawmill Command".

MICU 15A arrived and immediately began patient care.

Squad 41 (FF Amato) arrived and assisted the Engine crew with cribbing the tree and setting up the airbags.

The airbags were utilized to lift the tree off of the Patient. Crews also placed additional cribbing as the bags were lifted to prevent the tree from falling.

The arriving Broomall units sent their crews into the scene to assist with cribbing and extrication.

The Patient was extricated within 10 minutes of arrival of the responding units.

Once free, the Patient was packaged and transported to the Paoli Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All units were clear of the incident at 1051 hours.
