The Newtown Square Fire Company was dispatched to a reported serious automobile accident with subjects trapped and vehicle overturned Saturday afternoon. The call was reported at the intersection of Goshen and Earle Lane. Due to the seriousness of the initial reports, the Broomall Fire Company was added to the assignment. Deputy Chief Mike Kenny arrived and established “Goshen Road Command” to direct the resources as needed. The car had hit a telephone with tremendous force, removing part of the roof, and snapping the pole. The Medical Command made the decision to do a rapid extraction of the victim. Crews from Riddle Hospital assisted by fire company EMS transported to the victim to Paoli Hospital as a Trauma Alert. Goshen Road remained closed for several hours for accident investigation and repair and preplacement of the utility poles. Units responded to the accident scene included Rescue 41, Engine 41, Rescue 53, Traffic 41, Utility 41 and Riddle Hospital Medic 104B. The Delaware County Tenth District Fire Police assisted with the road closures and traffic control. Newtown Township Police conducted the accident investigation. |
