Danger Averted!
Throwback Thursday to 1971 and the intersection of Bryn Mawr Ave and West Chester Pike.
It was 7:00 PM on a rain slick night when a gasoline truck collided with a car, jack knifed, and rolled over. The truck was carrying 7.800 gallons of gasoline and posed an explosion hazard.

The Newtown Square Fire Company members were assisted by Rose Tree, Broomall, and Radnor fire companies in the dangerous effort to lessen the hazard.

Eventually the truck was drained and righted. The fire company members, the community and the environment were lucky that night, no gas was spilled, and no one was hurt.
