Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported residential house fire on Saddle Run, Edgmont Twp. Ladder 41 arrived on scene with a 2-story Single Family Dwelling (SFD) with smoke evident from the chimney. Crews entered the building and found an active fire behind a gas fireplace on the 1st floor. A 2nd Alarm was struck by Command. The crew from Ladder 41 stetched a handline and began opening up the exterior wall of the fireplace and found heavy fire conditions. Simultaneously, the aerial from Ladder 41 was placed to the chimney where crew members opened up the chimney and found heavy fire. As the 2nd Alarm Companies were arriving (Goshen E54-1& Rose Tree Quint 73) crews were instructed to stretch a handline to the 2nd floor to begin attacking the fire. As crews were operating on the 2nd floor a "Flashover" occurred resulting in a "May Day" call from interior personnel. The building was evacuated with all personnel accounted for uninjured. Master Stream operations were placed in service and the fire was brought under control.

Rehab was established by members of Riddle EMS, Marple EMS and the County of Delaware.

Fire Police from Edgmont, Newtown Square and Goshen assisted with traffic control on scene.

Great job by ALL crews working in extraordinarily hot and humid conditions. Training and dedication paid off today!

There were no injuries (firefighters/civilians) as a result of this fire.
