Daytime First Due House Fire

At 1427 hours, Company 41, along with units from Radnor (15), Berwyn (2), Media (23) and Riddle EMS (104), was alerted for a reported kitchen fire in the unit block of Sugar Maple Drive in Newtown Township.

Engine 41 (LT. Certo) arrived with nothing showing from a 2-story single family home. The Crew entered the residence and found a smoke condition throughout. Upon further investigation, a working fire was found in the kitchen and the basement. One 1.75" hand line was utilized to contain the fire.

Deputy 41 (Guyer) arrived and established the "Sugar Maple Command".

Ladder 41 (FF Kenny) arrived and backed into the driveway. The aerial was set up for possible roof ventilation. The crew then assisted the Engine Crew in the basement.

Engine 15-1 and Tower 2 arrived, with the Engine taking the hydrant to supply Engine 41. Both crews were sent to the interior to perform searches which proved negative.

Squad 41(Capt. McNeill) and Engine 53 arrived. Both crews assisted with ventilation and overhaul.

Rehab 53 was requested by Command and assisted Riddle EMS with Rehab of all crews.

The incident was placed under control at 1454 hours and the final units were clear of the scene at 1616 hours.
